Tyvek®

Material: Tyvek® is a synthetic material that looks similar to paper. It is tear restistant, waterproof, very light, made from 100% PET and is fully recyclable. I’ve used the Tyvek® paper with 105 g/m2.

Tools: Cutting plotter, cutting blade, folding tool, a bit of tape.

Process: Tyvek® was the first material other than paper that I folded. I startet with manual drawing and embossing of the lines before folding and soon I got help of my cutting plotter. After preparing the crease pattern in digital form, the cutting plotter perforates the crease lines. This makes the folded piece much more accurate and also I save some time. I do the folding by hand, first the straight lines and then the diagonal ones and once that done, I continue with shaping the folds. At the end the two sides of the piece are fixed together with a bit of tape and the waterbomb ball, which is also called magic ball, is finished.
