Tessellate-it Dress

Bachelorthesis Textile Art and Design 2014

The Bachelor project has the aim to explore the use of origami in fashion and to create a folded artwork. The thesis explains the basics of origami, how geometric folds are working and shows a selection of folded dresses.

The tessellate.it dress is a dress which lies between sculpture art and fashion design. It is made out of 13 folded pieces of tyvek, joint together by single hand stitches. Tailored to special measurements and a hidden zipper at the back it can be worn as a statement.
