Academic Folding Lectures

Hands-on learning for teams and students in folding and design: delivered through academic lectures, visits in institutions and inspirational talks, tailored for students of design, architecture and fashion. Backed by ten years of university teaching, Lisa’s workshops offer a calm and tactile environment, intense know-how and real skill building.

Folding Workshop: Geometry in Paper

Over 2 - 4 days, students explore the basics of origami, geometric folding techniques, and the logic of crease patterns, combining theory with hands-on practice. Topics include the applications of folds, digital simulation and fabrication methods. The students are discovering how geometric folds can open, twist and transform. Each participant transforms and designs their own crease pattern.

Folding Curved Folds

In a day the students of Industrial Design and me explore the technique of curved folds. The workshop is for advanced folders, who already took part in the 4 days folding workshop

Advanced 3D-Printing Folds

In this experimental workshop, Lisa guides students through using 3D printing as a tool for folding, exploring how geometric folds can be prototyped beyond paper. Through hands-on sessions and the latest research, students test techniques such as printing flat crease patterns onto flexible textiles, or generating 3D fold models in various stages of transformation. The result is a fresh perspective on foldability and material expression through rapid prototyping.

Folding Workshop - University of Arts Linz

In a 4 days folding workshop I teach the students of Industrial Design and other departments the basics of origami, different folding techniques and how they could be applied in design. Each student designs his/her own folding structure and folds it with a big piece of paper. Linz, since 2016 nearly yearly

Dynamic Foldables Pavillon - University of Technology Vienna

In 2020 I was part of a teaching team, that supported the students of the TU Vienna to design a folded Pavillon. The initial aim was to make prototypes and a really scale pavilion at Karlsplatz in Vienna, but due to the global covid circumstances the outcome was a digital version. In a VR walkthrough you could experience the pavilion and learn about its simulated folded structure, materials and details. Vienna, March - June 2020
